In June some of our students attended the Derwent Valley Youth Summit. This was an opportunity to hear from young people and better understand their issues, concerns and dreams.

One of the Summit outcomes was for youth to participate in a range of social and community projects that involved people from other generations.

So far this term our Prefects supported the Lions Club to make scones for a Seniors Week Devonshire Tea. This was a fantastic opportunity for students to interact with and share stories with members of Corrumbene Aged Care Service.

Some of our year 8 and year 9 boys had a visit to the Derwent Valley Men’s Shed where they had a tour of the facility and were shown numerous hand-crafted goods such as jewellery boxes, candle sticks, tables and chairs, cars and ukuleles. The boys were able to meet local volunteers and share stories over an afternoon sausage sizzle.
