PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE
Yesterday, a Thanksgiving Celebration was held to commemorate and celebrate the life of our friend and colleague, Mrs Chris Woolley. Many staff and students attended, with many of our students also having a role serving food during the gathering afterwards. Alternative arrangements were put in place at school for the students who remained and several staff from Claremont College came down to add support.
I would like to thank all families for your understanding and support during this time. It is always difficult to deal with someone passing but it is the New Norfolk Way to be there for each other and it has been very heartening to see this in action throughout the whole school community.
Last assembly, I spoke about our School Value of Aspiration. It is a time of year for looking ahead and considering goals. Our Year 10 students have completed their transition plans, many students are engaged in work experience and our Year 11 & 12 students have finished classes for the year.
At our assembly we were able to celebrate the Aspiration and Growth demonstrated by our first group of students to complete the Duke of Edinburgh Bronze Award. As well as being a rich experience, the Award is also a significant achievement, a great addition to those students resumes and earns them additional TCE points on top of their other studies.
At the Assembly we were also able to announce next year’s Prefects. It is always encouraging to see students who are prepared to get out of their comfort zones and have a go. It is also wonderful to be able to reward them for doing so. I look forward to working with them and seeing all they contribute as student leaders next year.
