AP REPORT
What a fantastic start it has been to the term with students started and settled into the school year.
I would like to take this opportunity to let you know of one the many wonderful initiatives offered at NNHS, The School Lunch Program.
The School Lunch Program is led by School Food Matters (SFM), a Tasmanian non-government organisation supporting school communities to promote and provide nutritious food.
The School Lunch Program promotes equity and universal access for every Tasmanian child/young adult offering quality paddock to plate, nutritious, fresh and seasonal meals, with an emphasis on sourcing local Tasmanian produce.
Dietitians, chefs and SFM staff develop the menu together. There are four key menu principles: enjoyable, evidence-based, local and inclusive. Meals are made up of ingredients from the five food groups: vegetables, dairy and alternatives, meat and alternatives, breads and cereals, fruit and water.
The School Lunch Program is offered to all students at NNHS Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.
Forms for students who have been identified by parents/carers as having a food allergy have been sent home. Please return to the office as soon as possible. Could parents/carers let the office know if your child has a new diagnosis or if the existing allergy information needs updating.
If you have any questions about the program, please don’t hesitate to contact me through the school office.
Kind Regards,
Jodie Strohfeld - AP Connection and Safeguarding
