Year 8 students have been developing their practical skills in the workshop through two major projects: a wall-mounted planter box and a custom LED light. The planter box project introduced students to timber lamination techniques and emphasised the importance of accuracy — particularly keeping components square during cutting and assembly. The LED light project allowed students to explore design and engraving using our CNC machine, combining creativity with digital fabrication.

Most students have now completed their projects. Those who still need to finish are encouraged to arrange a recess or lunchtime session with Miss Howard next term to complete their work.

Students have also selected new elective subjects for Term 3, continuing to expand their skills in other areas. We look forward to welcoming new students into the workshop and sharing the satisfaction that comes from designing and producing their own projects.
