We've had a wonderful two weeks here at New Norfolk High School, packed with energy, enthusiasm, and school spirit! It's been so great to see our students fully engaged in learning, diving into classroom activities, and really showing dedication to their studies. There’s been a real buzz around the school as students tackle their lessons with focus and curiosity.
On top of that, last week’s 2-day Athletics Carnival was a huge highlight! The turnout and enthusiasm from everyone made the event a massive success. From sprints to long jumps, students gave it their all, and our school spirit was shining bright. We saw incredible displays of sportsmanship, with students cheering each other on and celebrating each other’s efforts. We even had several school records broken, which just added to the excitement!
A big thank you to everyone who participated, supported, and made this event memorable. Here’s to more fantastic weeks ahead at New Norfolk High School!

Acting Principal
As we settle into Term 4, I wanted to reach out to share a few updates on our attendance expectations and some of the fantastic activities we have coming up this term.
Firstly, we want to emphasize how important it is for all students to attend school every day. Regular attendance is essential for students’ learning and connection with school life. We know that sometimes sickness can keep students at home, and that’s completely understandable, but outside of that, we’d love to see every student here, every day. Being here every day means they’re not missing out on the valuable lessons, friendships, and support that make our school such a special place.
Speaking of special things, Term 4 is jam-packed with engaging events! We’ve already enjoyed the Athletics Carnival – despite the weather doing its best to hamper our plans it was such a fun two days filled with amazing spirit and participation. And coming up next week, we’ll be hosting a whole-school Wellbeing Day! It’s a chance for students and staff to relax, recharge, and focus on wellbeing through various activities that encourage positive mental health and community building.
Looking ahead, we’re also preparing for our annual Rainbow Day, a highlight of the term. In Week 8, we’ll come together as a school to raise money for brain cancer research in memory of two much-loved staff members, Lisa and Chris, who passed away last year. This is always a special day to honor their memories and show our community spirit. We’ll be sharing more details soon on how students can get involved and contribute to this meaningful cause.
Thanks for your continued support with attendance and involvement – we’re looking forward to a wonderful Term 4 together!

Grade 8 English
Throughout Term 4, Grade 8 students will be exploring arguments, debates and persuasive language in English. This unit focuses on teaching students how to convince audiences through compelling reasoning and emotional appeal. By the end of the term, students will be capable of analysing speeches and arguments, and identifying techniques used to influence our beliefs and actions.
Grade 8 HASS
This term in HASS, Grade 8 students are exploring the topic of Changing Nations. This unit focuses on understanding the processes that shape our world, and how these changes influence nations and their people.
Through this study, students investigate key concepts such as migration, urbanisation, and environmental changes. They will look at the reasons people relocate, how cities grow, and the impact of global population shifts.
Grade 8 Art
This term, the Grade 8 Art have been developing their ceramic skills by designing and building a cake-shaped box. Students have shown loads of individuality and creativity when deciding what extra designs and colours work for their chosen ‘flavour’ of cake. We are looking forward to their finished products and what they will be used for.

Athletics Carnival
Last week we had our annual Athletics Carnival. Despite the variable and unpredicatable weather, everybody arrived with a smile and a positive attitude. Due to an early morning downpour, we were forced to start our carnival later than expected. This didn’t dampen our spirits and the day got rolling. The records began to tumble on Day 2. A huge shoutout to Angel Green and Seb Farrow who both beat the previous Grade 9 Discus records which had both been standing for over twenty years – an incredible effort from them both. We would like to wish all our students taking part in the Interhigh at the end of week six all the best. We know you will all do the school proud.
Announcements of the champions and runners up from the day will be announced shortly after we finish off the last of our events we missed due to the weather.

This year our Wellbeing Day is all about taking time out to ‘Appreciate the little things’. The small moments that make you feel good, like dancing with a friend , spending time in the garden , enjoying the sun , playing sport , journaling what your grateful for , or indulging in a special treat .
We have lots of fun and uplifting activities in store. We are also ‘berry’ lucky to have Stasberry visiting us. So, make sure you bring along $10 for a delicious cup of chocolate coated strawberries.
Oh, and don’t forget to wear ORANGE!
